BRINGING THE GOSPEL TO THE LOST & THE WORD TO THE FOUND
Serving with Living Water Mukachevo, we are bringing the Gospel to those who do not know Jesus as well as discipling those who know Him already.
Every day is about creating new relationships or building existing ones, praying for the nation of Ukraine, shining a light in our community, doing practical ministry, and serving the local church.
We serve in many different existing ministries and will also help expand the ministry here with time.
Right now we are focused on learning Russian and that takes up a large part of our time and energy, but it will make us more effective at relationship building to be able to speak to those we are reaching in their native language which is our focus.
Russian, Ukrainian, Hungarian, and a local dialect are all spoken in this area but we are learning Russian because it is the most widely spoken in this part of the world.
MINISTRIES
Children's Ministry
Duane, Lisa, Elijah, and Abrianna are loving their involvement in the children's ministry!
Lisa assists with 4-8 year old children, teaching them from the Word, with song, and special activities.
Duane and Abrianna serve the children in the outlying gypsy villages. Abrianna also serves in the church nursery.
Cafe Ministry
Aidan makes waffles for the church's cafe ministry and is learning to make lattes and cappuccinos, as well. Abrianna is also learning to art of being a barista. This is a couple of days a week, and a great way to build relationships and get to know everyone.
Our entire family plays games, has life-giving conversations, prays with and for young people, and strengthens relationships with those who attend church and the community who enjoys the open doors at our cafe events.
Teaching The Word
We are actively involved in studying the Word and teaching it.
We host a weekly study in our home as well as helping with the ones at the church and disciple/mentor some of the young adults.
"Coffee table ministry" is a large part of our ministry here. This means we meet individually and build close relationships through hospitality and share the truth.
Prayer Ministry
Prayer is the essential foundation to the work here.
Just as in the book of Acts, we recognize the essentialism of being in unity and prayer before ever going out and sharing the Word.
We are dedicated to the discipline of consistent personal prayer as well as communal prayer weekly for what is happening here.
Adult Education
One of the main services offered to the community is Speak Up! English Club, which not only is a great way to connect with people, but it also helps them with developing their English language skills which helps them get better jobs and have more opportunities.
Both practical and effective, this ministry is one that we are honored to help with weekly and during camps in the summer.
Community Outreach
Throughout the year there are many community events from art shows to concerts to street ministry that we are able to partner with.
Our focus is reaching the lost right here in our community and equipping the local believers to do the same.
Ministry in the surrounding gypsy villages is near and dear to our heart and something we are actively a part of.
Practical Outreach
From sharing meals to babysitting to fixing up homes, there's always a way to meet a practical need.
As we continue to get to know those around us, we are focused on being the hands and feet of Jesus to them.
This looks different every day, but is an essential part of what we do.
Our dinner table nearly always has at least one guest at it and our couches are always open for conversation and counseling. The yard is often filled with kids laughing and playing and then getting a meal and having conversations.
Elijah is a jack of all trades - from handyman to sound tech and Aidan is great at organizing and cleaning and helping behind the scenes.
Homeschooling Community
Homeschooling was recently legalized in Ukraine and there is a small community here already.
Lisa encourages new homeschooling moms and works with other experienced homeschooling moms to offer community for the journey.
This is a beautiful way to reach both mothers and children not only practically, but with the love of Jesus.
